Let me show you why Smiling Dental is so special

Every day that I come to work at Smiling  Dental I feel so lucky to have found this amazing team to work with!

Nothing compares to being surrounded by people who want to do and be better for our patients.

I knew I wanted to be a dentist from a young age, spending my summers in my Grandpa’s dental office back home in Romania.

Because he worked in a communist country, Grandpa didn’t have to deal with money or insurance issues at work. Instead, I saw him focused on taking great care of his patients and making sure they were happy and comfortable.

I was only 4 years old, but I still remember Grandpa writing appointments in pencil in his agenda, and the smell of a dental office always brings back happy memories.

Fortunately, my new practice, Smiling Dental in Ancaster, is right next door to Cobs Bread so these days I look forward to the smell of freshly baked bread every morning!

Dental technology has come a long way since Grandpa’s days, but the principles are the same: I get to talk to people all day long and help them, and that’s what drew me to the profession.

I came to Canada with my parents when I was 5 years old and actually grew up in Hamilton. Hamilton is home and I went to Westdale High School. As a child I was involved in more extracurriculars than you could imagine - competitive swimming, waterpolo, sailing, marching band, competitive shooting, winter biathalon, rugby - you name it, I probably did it.

When I’m away from the office my days are spent refereeing my two young children.  As a family we enjoy travelling - transcontinental flights with toddlers is everyone’s idea of fun, right? In the winter months we spend our weekend’s skiing.

My husband and I recently took our then 2 year old for her first trip to Disney. The best part of the trip was watching little Afina experience “Disney magic” for the first time. Now I understand why my parents were so obsessed with taking pictures of our family trips growing up!

I enjoy unwinding by going to the gym, reading a good book or going for a bike ride. If you have any recommendations for good reads I’d love to hear them!

PS. One of my recent favourite books is “Recursion” by Blake Crouch. Check it out if you’re looking for a book that will really make you think about how little actions can make a huge difference downstream.
