Autumn’s Journey…
Autumn’s journey began after months of fighting illnesses, constant trips to the doctors; becoming lethargic; losing her appetite; pale skin; back pain; blacking out; bruising and more! Her family doctor ordered blood work and Autumn – aka Squeaks – was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (standard risk B-ALL) at just 5 1/2 years old. At the time of diagnosis, her liver and spleen were 3 times the size they should have been!

Autumn has just gone through 26 months of chemo and we are happy to say that she is in remission – “kicking Cancer in the squeaker!”
The road has been bumpy, with plenty of scares and hiccups along the way. There’s no doubt she is a warrior! During treatment, Autumn was diagnosed with Asthma and has developed pneumonia 4 times… in just two years!
She is now 6 months off treatment & will continue to follow up with her medical team for the rest of her life.
“We Go Gold in September for our kids, Autumn and all her Chemo brothers and sisters.” Autumns mom, Nicole told us.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and recognized every September by childhood cancer organizations around the world. With a goal to increase awareness and raise funds for those affected by childhood cancer. The motto encourages everyone to GO GOLD during September in honour and in memory of kids with cancer.
Squeaks told us a bit about herself too…some of her favourites.
“Hi, my name is Autumn & I am 8 years old. One of my favourite things to do is play games. I am about to start grade 3, I have a brother named Michael. I have a dog named Lola, she is my best friend! My favourite colour is pink & I love horses. I love to go to Camp for Cancer kids – they are called Camp Trillium and Camp Ooch – it’s where I can be me!“
